This is the story of a very special
family here in Spokane that has been through a lot in the past 2 years. The Baumann
family. In early 2007 Tami Baumann was diagnosed with an aneurysm of the pulmonary
artery and pulmonary valve and required open heart surgery that took place in April of
that same year. The pulmonary artery was replaced successfully and Tami is doing well.
Last Saturday their daughter Hannah, age 11, a sixth grader at Woodridge Elementary
School, was diagnosed with Stage 2, Hodgkins Lymphoma, a cancer, that will require at
least 12 months of chemotherapy at Sacred Heart Children's Hospital in Spokane. After
Hannah's Dad, Mike Baumann lost his job here in Spokane as a salesman for a national
dental supply company, he had taken a job locally that pays less than half what he was
making prior, just to provide what health insurance he could for his family. To try and
relieve the financial stress the family is going through so the Baumanns can concentrate
on Hannah's recovery their friends and dance family have come together with the
following fund raisers and all money raised will go to the Baumanns:
Saturday Oct 25 - Master Hip Hop Class (all ages with dance experience) with Mario Velez
at the Dance Emporium (North Location, 7410 N Division St) from 3:00 - 4:00 pm. We
raised $1000.00 For Hannah!
Sunday Nov 2 - Spaghetti Feed and Auction at Assumption Parish Church Multi Purpose Room
(3624 W Indian Trail Rd) with Mark Peterson as the auctioneer from 4:00-7:00. Thank you
for your support! We raised over $9000.00
Sunday March 22 - Dance Emporium's Starz Benefit Show at the Bing Crosby Theater @ 3:00
pm.
Any donations will be greatly appreciated. A Trust Fund has been set up for Hannah at
STCU (Spokane Teachers Credit Union) under the name "A Thing Called Love"
Dance is a huge part of Hannah's life! She has been dancing since the age of 3 and is
currently a part of the Starz Competition and Performing Company at the Dance Emporium.
Before being diagnosed she auditioned for the Sleeping Beauty Ballet and was chosen to
dance at the Fox Thursday Oct 30. Because dance means so much to her the Doctor's have
allowed her to wait and start her chemo until after the show!
